One of our key initiatives in this direction is the "THALES" Energy Community, an innovative project that promotes social welfare and long-term sustainability.

What is the "THALES" Energy Community?

The "THALES" Energy Community operates as a non-profit urban cooperative that promotes the collaborative production and consumption of RES energy; thus, strengthening the local community and contributing to sustainability at a regional level.

How the "THALES" Energy Community Enhances Social Well-Being

A core mission of the "THALES" Energy Community is to include vulnerable social groups and social organizations in the virtual energy offset system without any financial burden. Through this action, Plastika Kritis Group supports social cohesion and solidarity offering substantial assistance to organisations that support vulnerable social groups. This ensures that our most vulnerable citizens can benefit from renewable energy sources, ultimately reducing their energy costs and improving their living conditions.

Furthermore, by including all Plastika Kritis employees in the energy netting program, both during their employment and after their retirement, we demonstrate our active commitment to our people, reinforcing social well-being and long-term sustainability.

The Commitment to a Green Future

This initiative strengthens the Group's strategy for reducing emissions and using clean energy. In 2023, the "THALES" community produced 3,129 MWh of electricity, avoiding the emission of 1,563.1 tons of CO2e. Furthermore, the total energy produced from the Group's renewable energy sources corresponds to 109% of the energy consumed at its facilities in Crete. In this way, the Group not only meets its facility needs but also contributes to reducing dependence on fossil fuels, thereby decreasing the Company’s carbon footprint.
